Choosing LED lighting for a warehouse
Good warehouse lighting means fewer picking errors, safer forklifts and lower bills. These are the four numbers that matter.
Light output (lumens)
For general storage aim for around 150 to 200 lux at floor level, and 300 lux or more in picking and packing areas. Your supplier can turn that into a fixture count from the floor area.
Mounting height and beam angle
Above about 6 m use high bays with a 60 to 90 degree beam. In narrow aisles a narrower beam puts light down the aisle instead of on top of the racks.
Colour temperature
4000 K to 5000 K neutral white keeps labels readable and people alert.
Heat and dust
Egyptian summers are hard on drivers. Choose fixtures rated for high ambient temperatures and at least IP65 if the space is dusty.
